UPDATE at 8:25 a.m.

East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr will serve another term claiming victory over this Democratic challenger Jack Stacey.

The New Haven Register has just sent out a breaking news text alert that Stacey has announced that he lost the race to the incumbent Maturo.

East Haven Patch currently is at Town Hall for election returns and an updated post on all tonight's results will come soon.

UPDATE at 3:20 p.m.

As we move into the late afternoon this Election DAy, voter turnout across East Haven remains steady.

As of 3 p.m., 4,285 of the town's 15,145 registered voters had cast their ballots in today's municipal election. That's just over 28 percent.

Republican Registrar of Voters Donna Norman says that that puts voting tallies at about the same level as the last municipal election two years ago.

Norman added that there have been few problems at the polls today, with things so far moving along smoothly.

"But of course, it's only 3 o'clock," she told East Haven Patch.

UPDATE at 9:40 a.m.

It's still a bit early in the day to get a true sense of overall voter turnout here in East Haven this Election Day, but if morning tallies here at Hays School are any indication -- it could be a strong showing by the time polls close at 8 p.m. tonight.

Election workers told East Haven Patch voting has been steady and brisk there since the polls opened at 6 a.m. this morning.

As of 9:40 a.m., 263 of the district's 2,943 registered voters have already cast their ballots. That's just under 10 percent.

And the parking lot continues to be a full and busy place as voters pull in and then out again after casting their ballot.

East Haven Patch will have additional updates throughout the day today.

And don't forget to leave your own notes, observations and thought this East Haven Election Day!
