East Haven Democrats Elect New Town Committee Jan. 9

This Thursday East Haven Democrats will choose who will serve on their local town committee for the 2014-16 term.

Next week East Haven Democrats will have a chance to cast their vote for who represents them in their political party's local town committee.

The East Haven Democratic Town Committee will hold its caucus this Thursday, Jan. 9, beginning at 7 p.m., at the Senior Center.

At the caucus, all registered Democrats in East Haven will have the opportunity to cast their ballot to nominate and then vote to determine who will make up the membership of their town committee's new board.

New members will each serve a two-year term.

Town committee officers for 2014-16 will then be elected at a later time from members of the new local board.

Following November's municipal election, current East Haven DCT Chairman Gene Ruocco announced he would not be seeking to return as the local party's leader.
