UPDATED: East Haven Democratic Town Committee for 2014-16

UPDATE at 1:30 p.m. FRIDAY

Results for District 3 below have been revised to show that Stacy Monico does, at this time, remain a member of the new town committee.

Although Monico did make a public statement she was resigning the post following the announcement of the results at the DTC caucus last week, current DTC Chairman Gene Ruocco, who is Monico's father, told East Haven Patch this afternoon that he did not accept her resignation.

"It's the chairman's prerogative to accept or reject a resignation," he said, adding that he felt Monico's actions were a "knee-jerk reaction to the politics in the room at the time" during the caucus vote last week.

Ruocco, who did not win re-election to District 3, will serve as chairman until a new leadership team is voted in by local Democrats on March 11.

Additionally, Ruocco noted that in order to serve on the committee, members must be elected with a majority vote. With 40 registered Democrats from District 3 present at last week's caucus, 21 would represent a majority vote. And so, she would be unable to fill the spot, according to the local town committee's bylaws.

Monico received 36 votes. And Annmarie Nappi received only 18, which would not be a majority.

Ruocco said that if Monico does reaffirm her desire to resign in writing, the local party's leadership at that time can decide whether or not to accept it, and if they do, then at that time hold a special election to fill the spot.
