VIDEO: East Haven Braces for Blizzard

East Haven officials say the town is ready to deal with the storm, and urge residents to stay off the roads and at home until the wintry mess moves out and away from the region.

What could be the most powerful winter storm to hit the region in decades has arrived, as snow has now begun to fall here along the shoreline — and East Haven officials say the town is ready.

There is a blizzard warning in effect for the entire state from Friday morning into early Saturday afternoon. All East Haven Public Schools are closed, and a town-wide parking ban is in effect now until Monday morning.

Winter Storm Nemo is expected to bring with it up to up to a foot or more of snow here in East Haven and wind gusts upwards of 60 miles per hour. The heaviest snows and winds are expected to occur Friday night into early Saturday morning.

East Haven Patch spoke with Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr, and the head of the Department of Public Services Robert Parente, about the town's preparation for the potential historic winter storm this weekend. (see video)
