What's Open, What's Closed for Labor Day

A guide on the range of closures on Labor Day.

Labor Day was originally created to appease unions after a 19th century railroad strike, but that’s doesn’t mean that modern working stiffs don’t get to reap the benefits of a day off. Here’s what’s open and closed throughout East Haven the rest of the state this week.

The following are CLOSED on Sept. 5 for Labor Day:

  • Post offices
  • Public schools
  • East Haven Town Hall
  • Liquor stores (grocery stores also will not be selling beer)
  • Government buildings, such as the Department of Motor Services
  • Most banks
  • Financial markets

The following are OPEN on Sept. 5:
