Attention, East Haven commuters: the Interstate 91 repaving project between New Haven and North Haven is not quite finished yet.
The project — which began in early July — consists of milling, pavement repairs and resurfacing from Exit 8 (Route 80) to Exit 9 (Montowese Avenue) on both sides of the I-91 highway.
The repaving was originally scheduled to be completed by Sept. 21. But work on the busy interstate resumed last night, and is expected to continue until this Friday. Lane closures in both directions are planned.
The state Department of Transportation reports the majority of the work this week along the busy interstate will be conducted at night, with most lane closures between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
In addition to repaving, minor electrical work will occur at the entrance/exit ramps to replace signal controls.
Earlier this year, the $1.38 million resurfacing project was awarded to the North Haven-based Empire Paving.
