Sobriety Checkpoint In Effect on Friday

Police hope to keep the roads safe.

In what the East Haven Police Department describes as an "ongoing commitment to keep the roadways safe during the busy summer travel season," sobriety checkpoints will be set up on Friday.

The driving under the influence checkpoints begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and end at 4 a.m. Saturday in several undisclosed locations throughout town.

According to a press release from the police department,
"This comprehensive motor vehicle enforcement strategy is part of an ongoing grant obtained from the Connecticut Department of Transportation to make the roads safer."
