Retired D.C. Moore Employee, Ann Torello, 72, Passes On

The East Haven woman was a member of St. Clare Church.

Ann M. Torello was born on March 28, 1938, in New Haven to the late William and Josephine Stoddard Koelle. Her father died when Ann was a child leaving her mother and stepfather, Joseph Locke, to raise her. Upon graduating from Wilbur Cross High School in 1956, Ann was hired as a secretary for Nationwide Insurance Company and then by the Knights of Columbus.

Her next job was in the D.C. Moore School cafeteria in East Haven. Her last employment was doing  advertising for  Bradleys Department Store. Ann was a member of St. Clare Church and a former member of the church's women's club. Her last address was Oregon Avenue, East Haven.

On Nov.15, 2010, Ann passed away at the age of 72. She is survived by her husband, John B. Torello; children John B. Torello Jr. of East Haven and Joanna Torello of Branford; and sisters Jane O'Leary of East Haven and Francis Noonan ( Robert) of Guilford. Ann also leaves a grandchild, Kaili Saccavino of Wallingford.

Her funeral will take place at the Clancy Funeral Home at 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 20.  At 11 a.m., there will be a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Clare Church. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery in Branford. Friends may call Saturday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, Conn. 0649.
