Region Could Be Hit By Nor'easter This Week

Forecasters are watching a storm that is forming that could bring heavy rain, winds and possible flooding to areas trying to clean up after Hurricane Sandy, plus temperatures are dropping.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the New Jersey-New York-New England region for later this week.

According to noaa.gov: "There is the potential for a coastal storm to impact the tri-state region Wednesday and Thursday. This storm has the potential to bring strong gusty winds, rain/wintry precipitation, coastal flooding and additional beach erosion to the tri-state area."

According to NBC.com, "The system wouldn't be another Sandy, but it could build off North Carolina next Tuesday, then move up the coast and affect New Jersey, Long Island and other hard-hit areas by Wednesday."

"The possible storm next week is not of the same make up as Sandy," prediction center forecaster Jim Cisco told NBC News, "though any more rain, snow or wind would certainly pose exacerbating effects on the impacted regions."

Says WXEdge.com, “Heavy rain and strong winds are possible and if the nor'easter does track along the coast, a strong easterly wind could cause moderate to major coastal flooding. With areas along the coastline already hit hard last week, any kind of storm could prove problematic. … Although there could be some snow in Connecticut, heavy snow is not likely. Any snow would likely be confined to the inland higher terrain and especially at the beginning of the storm.”

In addition, temperatures are dropping, and overnight temps are predicted to fall into the 20s this week.

I'm disappointed with the new format. Doesn't seem to be very user friendly.
