Taking Mom out for Mothers Day always seems like a great idea. Who deserves a special day more than Mom? Than after you get to the restaurant with an entourage of relatives and kids, you find out that everybody else had the same idea. The service is slow, food cold or in short supply and the kids get bored and run amok. The whole well intentioned affair turns into mind numbing chaos.

seems to me that perhaps another choice, like cooking for the Mothers in your life would have more meaning to them and less negativity for you. I suggest a well intentioned cook out.

I have never been a brunch fan myself. Every time we have tried to take my mother it has never been up to par. We started taking her out the day before Mother's Day, better food and better service. Then, as an added bonus, I can do what I want on Sunday.

I don't like brunches, either, especially on a holiday. I am lucky enough to have a husband who is a fantastic cook, and loves to do it, so my Mother's Day dinners have always been fantastic and would rival even the best restaurants! Nothing better than staying home with my feet up while my husband cooks and the girls help!
