Organ Donor Awareness Bill Advances in Hartford

Introduced by an East Haven legislator, the bill would create a public information campaign to stress the importance of organ donation.

A bill introduced by state Rep. James Albis, D-, that has advanced toward approval in the state Legislature.

The Hartford Courant reported that the bill was passed by the Appropriations Committee last week and was scheduled for review by the Transportation Committee this week.

It would create an advisory committee to conduct an awareness campaign to let state residents know why organ donation is important and would require the Department of Motor Vehicles to include a check box on all DMV vehicle registration applications to allow people to donate $2 toward the cost of the awareness campaign.
