On Tonight: The Amazing Race, Dexter and Homeland

It's Sunday — and this is what's on tonight.

Sunday, Oct. 30

The Amazing Race, 8 p.m., CBS
After last week’s episode, in which the Smarter Than The Showgirls Twins TWICE got free cab rides, my 10-year-old sage said this: “Never underestimate the power of blonde hair.” I am taking that as a parenting win. Tonight, the racers head to Malawi, or as we like to call to it, Madonnaland, and all kinds of craziness ensues. It is very hot in Africa, you know.

Dexter, 9 p.m., Showtime
Wow. They have certainly amped up the gore factor after the last couple of (in retrospect) relatively tame seasons. My husband, who never watches television never mind has never seen Dexter, happened to be in the room when the poor Angel Girl went to heaven. “What the hell is this?” he asked. “Dexter,” I said. “That is disgusting,” he said. “Yes,” I said, “isn’t it great?”

Homeland, 10 p.m., Showtime
Sunday nights are becoming exhausting, as first we sit through the gore and terror or Dexter and then we sit through the nearly unbearable tension of this. I am already addicted to this – so many layers of intrigue! Love it.
