On Tonight: Survivor: South Pacific, The X Factor and Up All Night

It's Wednesday, East Haven — and Elissa has kindly provided highlights of what's on your TV tonight.

Survivor: South Pacific, 8 p.m., CBS
For them to not think that Cochran would not turn on them was really mind-boggling, wasn't it? Did they never see Revenge of the Nerds parts 1, 2 and 3? And then Baby Russell (I know that's not his name but that's what I call him) protecting Cochran at the end - well, that nearly brought tears to my eyes. It took forever for this season to get good, but it finally has.

Up All Night, 8 p.m., NBC
Blythe Danner and Richard Schiff were outstanding as Reagan's parents, almost as great as the two moms on Big Bang Theory in terms of the amount of dysfunction/love they bring to the relationship. But honestly, Maya Rudolph has absolutely stolen this show. She is brilliant, and she needs to sing in every single episode.

The X Factor, 8 p.m., Fox
So this show has now borrowed every single element from every single talent competition show that exists, with last week's unveiling of the bottom two's "sing for your lives" and then judges make the cut. Whatever. I still love it. So happy that horrendous Intensity went home, was hopeful we could knock out Lakoda Rayne at the same time (although I give Which Blonde Is That credit for hitting the low notes in the opening of Avalanche). I like that it is a mixed bag now, too, in that not one from each category is targeted. Rock on, X Factor, and congrats on being renewed for a second season.
