Officer in Latino Misconduct Case Requests Return to East Haven

Police Officer Dennis Spaulding is barred from East Haven, where his wife and baby live, as a condition of his release from custody.

An police officer who federal prosecutors have has asked to return home to East Haven to live with his wife and baby.

According to an article in the New Haven Register, Officer Dennis Spaulding’s lawyer filed a motion this week before federal Magistrate Judge Holly Fitzsimmons to modify the conditions of his release, which currently bar him from entering the town of East Haven.

The article said federal probation officials will recommend modifying the conditions of release.

Spaulding and three other East Haven officers were arrested on Jan. 24 by FBI agents on a 10-count indictment charging that they harassed Latino residents and business owners, mistreated Latinos in custody and intimidated others who tried to file complaints against them.
