New Interactive Fall Foliage Website for Leaf Peepers

For the first time ever, colorful gradient map provides up-to-the minute data on fall foliage throughout Connecticut.

The following is a press release from the state Department of Energy & Environmental Protection:

As temperatures cool down and leaves begin to change color, the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) announces a brand new Fall Foliage website is now available at www.ct.gov/dep/foliage.  

Daniel C. Esty, Commissioner of DEEP said, “Leaf peeping in Connecticut is an annual tradition and we draw visitors from all over the region and beyond.  Each year visitors and residents alike find beauty and a cacophony of color that represents autumn and reminds them how beautiful our state is this time of year.  Now our website makes it easier than ever to determine when and where the leaves are changing color and where to view them.”    The new website has a variety of choices to make your fall foliage excursion a success:

Intensity of color during specific time periods  

The website features an interactive map that with a quick touch of the wrist on a “foliage map,” visitors may select a date and fall foliage colors will appear on the map. For example, if a visitor were to select “October 1 – October 6” on the map of Connecticut, a full display of fall foliage colors will showcase the intensity and vibrancy of colors in our state during that time period.

Scenic Views & Hiking Locations

By choosing “Scenic Views & Hiking Locations,” visitors will see names of state parks and forests where fall foliage is spectacular this year.  

Fall Foliage Driving Routes  

Shows five driving routes in Connecticut where you can  For those of you who wish to view leaves from the comfort of your own vehicle, you may choose “Fall Foliage Driving Routes” where you can select the “number” in the center of the driving route for detailed information about the drive.
