Minor Coastal Flooding Possible This Afternoon

National Weather Service issues advisory for much of the Long Island Sound shoreline.

Following last night and this morning's rain, the National Weather Service is warning East Haven and other immediate shoreline communities that minor coastal flooding is possible later today.

"Tidal flood levels will be right around minor coastal flood benchmarks near the high tide late this morning and early this afternoon," the meterologists stated in their report

Tidal departures of 1.5 to 2 feet are expected during the next high tide early this afternoon.

The meterologists added that although minor flooding is expected, it should only have "localized impacts near the immediate coast."

A chance of rain continues through to this morning and into tonight, with a high of about 68 degrees. More rain is expected overnight tonight, with up to an inch of new rainfall possible throughout the day tomorrow.
