Maturo Has Lunch With Ecuador's Ambassador

East Haven Mayor Maturo's luncheon with the Ecuadorian officials was seen as another important step toward improving his relations with the town's immigrant community.

Joseph Maturo Jr. shared lunch with the Ecuadorian ambassador to the U.S. on Friday, a meeting seen as toward with the town's immigrant community.

According to a New Haven Register report, Ecuadorian Ambassador Nathalie Cely joined Maturo for lunch at East Haven's popular .

Maturo said the two did not get into any specific issues during their time together, but that the meeting was part of "an excellent afternoon" with the ambassador.

"I really did enjoy myself... It was very cordial," the mayor is quoted in Register reporter 's piece.

Cely’s visit was aimed at improving trade relations with Connecticut businesses, as well as promoting Ecuadorian culture.

In addition to Mayor Maturo, she also meet with New Haven Mayor John DeStefano and others.
