Just How Clean Are East Haven School Cafeterias?

St. Vincent de Paul School is spic-and-span and Pathways has cleaned up its act since a score of 74 (out of 100) last October, according to an investigation by the Connecticut Health I-Team.

The Connecticut Health Investigative Team (C-HIT) conducted a statewide investigation into the cleanliness of Connecticut's school cafeterias.

For the most part, East Haven schools received what would translate as "A" grades. A November 2010 inspection of St. Vincent de Paul School found no violations and resulted in a perfect score of 100.

On the other hand, Pathways received a 74 in October 2010 from violations that included the presence of fruit flies and the mixing of raw meat and eggs with ready-to-eat foods in the refrigerator. However, the school was quick to clean up its act as just two weeks later Pathways scored a 93.
