Irish History Round Table: Sinking of the Titanic

Author and historian Philip K. Devlin will discuss the sinking of the Titanic, and the tragic event's connection to Connecticut and Irish history.

The Irish History Round Table will hold its next meeting tonight, at the Knights of St. Patrick Hall, 1533 State Street in New Haven, starting at 7:30 p.m.

This month's meeting's guest speaker will be Philip K. Devlin. Devlin will discuss the sinking of the Titanic, and the to Connecticut and Irish history.


Two of the hundreds of tragic stories of the worst maritime disaster in history are about an Irishwoman and an Irishman who were coming to Connecticut, according to Devlin.

The author and historian recently worked on a that focused on the ship's tragic sinking, which were published on East Haven Patch — as well as several other Patch sites throughout the state.

Tonight's event is free and open to the public.

The Irish History Round Table meets on the third Tuesday of each month at The Knights of Saint Patrick Hall beginning

How come the details of this tragedy are not reported? The road was shutdown for five hours! I heardRead More the contractor moved the lines in the road to avoid the secret military plumbing project and didn't post signs to alert drivers.
