East Haven’s local labor market has been struggling for some time now. But, finally, there’s some good news on the horizon.

Hobby Lobby will begin accepting employment applications at its new East Haven location starting this coming Monday morning.

The new store — which will soon open its doors in the TJ Maxx Shopping Plaza along Frontage Road — will be open April 8-13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to allow those looking for a job to fill out and pass along applications to management.

Hobby Lobby has stated that the new store will bring about 35 – 50 jobs to the community paying $13 per hour for full time, and $9 per hour for part-time associates.

Renovations continue throughout the 43,800 square-foot building, which was formerly occupied by Home Goods before that store left to open a new location in Milford.

Once the East Haven Hobby Lobby is open, it will be the first Connecticut store for the Oklahoma-based company.
