High Winds Knock Out Power in East Haven

The majority of residents who found themselves without power have been brought back online after a storm system — bringing with it gusts of up to almost 70 mph — blew through the shoreline early Thursday morning.

Most East Haven homes and business have been brought back online after thousands across the state lost power following a strong wind and rain storm that blew through the region early Thursday morning.

Currently, only six customers report they are still without power, according to United Illuminating's outage map.

Early Thursday morning, that number had been at more than 400 homes, or more than 3 percent of the town.

As utility crews work to restore power to thousands of homes throughout Connecticut, the majority of East Haven who found themselves without electricty early this morning have now been brought back online.

According to United Illuminating's outage map, 146 customers in town — or just over 1 percent — currently have no electricty.

Although the high wind warning for the area has been cancelled, a wind advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday evening.

East Haven Patch will continue to keep an eye on the outage map numbers until all homes in town have had their power restored.

Although the worst of the weather appears to be over, the overnight and early morning winds did have an impact, with many East Haven homes finding themselves now without power.

According to United Illuminating's outage map, 464 customers in town — or just over 3 percent — have no electricty.

At the height of the wind storm at about 4 a.m. Thursday, gusts reaced almost 70 miles per hour at the town beach, according John DiGiovanni's report via Twitter

The high wind warning remains in effect for East Haven and the shoreline until 9 a.m. this morning.
