For Wednesday evening through late Wednesday night, the National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for East Haven, as well as much of the rest of the shoreline.
The hazard, the NWS said, would be from damaging wind gusts. Winds from the south will be sustained at 25 to 35 miles per house with gusts up to 60 mph.
"Strong winds, in comination with heavy rain, could bring down whole trees, large tree limbs, power lines and unsecured objects," the meteorolgists warn in their report.
They added that the high wind conditions "could pose a hazard to anyone out driving or walking," as well as homes and other structures near large trees.
Driving is also expected to be difficult during the wind storm, especially in high profile vehicles, and on elevated roadways and bridges.
East Haven Patch will provide updates on any possible power outages that may occur in relation to the expected high winds.
