Original Story (Wednesday at 3 p.m.)

It's raining along the Long Island Sound shoreline, and that means there is the potential for flooding tonight and tomorrow morning in East Haven.

An unseasonably warm December has kept the constant precipitation from turning into snow, but the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch in northern New Haven and Fairfield Counties in response to the constant rain.

The advisory is in effect until Thursday morning at 7 p.m.

"The rain may lead to flooding of small streams, poor drainage and urban areas and roadways," the meteorologists stated in their report. "The larger rivers are not expect to reach flood stage at this time."

Approximately 2-4 inches of precipitation is expected, with most of it rain in East Haven as temperatures are expected not to dip below 36 degrees overnight tonight.

In northern parts of New Haven County, some forecasts show a chance of a mix of snow and rain tonight.

In addition to the rain, winds are expected to kick in and ramp up overnight, with some gusts as high as 32 miles per hour.

Tomorrow, however, the rain finally comes to an end, with the weather service calling for a sunny, breezy day with a high of 46 degress.
