Some of the student members of the "Bridge Brigade" discussed their efforts and desire to in the comments section of Librarian Fawn Gillespie's about the historic structure.
One of the Tuttle School students, , commented:
"Hi, Fawn I also go to school with Nick, Bojana, and Kaleyshka.My name is Michelle Allderige I heard about the bridge and i think that we should raise as much awareness as we can. Tomarrow we are having a facepainting stand and a bake sale to raise awareness. We are trying as hard as we can to help save the Farm River Bridge."

The residents that the state Department of Transportation wanted to replace now have the Bridge Brigade on their side.
According to an article by the New Haven Register, fifth graders at Grove J. Tuttle School have , devoted to raising money and attention to the cause of preserving the bridge, which some say has historical significance.
The children have held a bake sale fundraiser to benefit the Historical Society, done their own historical research on the history of the bridge and written letters to elected officials urging them to support preserving the bridge.
