After Sandy: FEMA to Open Disaster Recovery Center in East Haven

The center, which will be stationed at the East Haven Town Beach House, will be open for a limited time starting this Friday.

As the town's shoreline continues its recovery and clean up following Hurricane Sandy, the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be opening a Disaster Recovery Center in East Haven for three days starting this Friday, according to the East Haven Mayor's Office.

At the center — which will be located at the town beach house along Cosey Beach Avenue — FEMA officials will be able to meet and receive applications in person from residents regarding storm-related FEMA and government assistance resulting from Superstorm Sandy, the Mayor's Office stated in a Monday morning press release.

  • Friday, Nov. 23 — 12 to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 24 —  8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Monday, Nov. 26 — 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

'Appreciation to FEMA'

In the release, Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr noted his appreciation to FEMA officials for agreeing to open a temporary center in town.

“While I am aware that several areas of the western Connecticut shoreline sustained even more significant damage from Sandy, I would like to express my appreciation to FEMA to extend their reach to our town for this period, to offer additional convenience to our residents with this process", Maturo said.
