Father Winter Awakens: Winter Storm Advisory

Some four to six inches of snow are expected to accumulate in East Haven beginning late tonight and into late tomorrow afternoon.

It would appear that Old Man Winter has finally awoken from his slumber.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm advisory for East Haven as well as most of the rest of the state starting late tonight, with some four to six inches of snow expected to accumulate by the time the system begins to move out of the area late tomorrow afternoon.

Poor Driving Conditions

Tomorrow morning's driving conditions are expected to be particularly poor, with visibility at times down to less than a half-mile during periods of moderate snowfall.

"Impacts will include travel difficulties due to snow covered roads and limited visibilities," the meteorologists stated in their report. "Freezing will create conditions on area roads. Patchy black ice is also likely."

Temperatures will drop into the low teens overnight tonight, and then rise back up to near freezing here along the shoreline in the morning.

First Storm of Season

It has been a rather mild winter, compared to last year's . And tomorrow's storm will be the first significant snowfall since the official start of winter Dec. 21.

The state, however, was hit hard during last October's unusual and , which left much of the state without power for days.
