Flash Flood Warning, Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for East Haven

A strong line of storms is expected to impact the area this afternoon and early evening.

A flash flood warning has just been issued for East Haven, as well as the rest of New Haven County and Fairfield County, until 5:45 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for all of New Haven and Fairfield counties.

The watch will continue through the rest of the afternoon into the early evening hours until it is set to expire at 10 p.m. tonight

In addition, a flood advisory has been issued for the area until 3:45 p.m. Weather service meteorologists report a line of severe thunderstorms are expected to begin to move into the region, dropping rain at a rate of up to 2 inches an hour.

The meteorologist added that "other showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop as well over Westchester County," which could then move into southwestern Connecticut later today.
