East Haven's Unemployment Swings Back Up

The number of East Haven residents unemployed and looking for work in May rose to 8.7 percent.

According to the latest figures released by the Connecticut Department of Labor, the town’s unemployment is at 8.7 percent. Additionally, the department's figures also showed the labor force grew slightly in East Haven over the same period, from 1,328 in April to 1,464 in May.

In Connecticut, the pool of jobless people in May sat at 8.0 percent.

In 2008 East Haven’s annual unemployment rate was 6.3 percent. In 2007 it was 5.0 percent.
