East Haven Disaster Outreach Center to Remain Open Until Oct. 27

The center originally was scheduled to close its doors by the end of the day tomorrow.

East Haven's — which had been scheduled to close at the end of the day tomorrow — will now remain open through Oct. 27, Gov. Dannel Malloy announced in a press release early this evening.

The center, which is at the at 160 Cosey Beach Road, was was first opened on Sept. 8 assist area residents impacted by Tropical Storm Irene.

"Federal representatives will remain on hand to assist in the disaster outreach process," Malloy stated in the release.

To be considered for all forms of disaster assistance, disaster survivors should first register with FEMA online anytime at www.disasterassistance.gov, or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 for TTY.

These toll-free telephone numbers will operate 7 a.m. through 10 p.m. daily.
