Crime Lands on Doorstep; Drug Suspect Leads Cops on Chase; and More

EAST HAVEN – A resident had an OMG moment this week when a car chase ended with the suspect crashing into the bushes in her front yard.

“Mom, some guy in a red shirt with a gun just crashed into our bushes. He has a gun, mom, and he ran into our carport,” said Dalton, son of East Haven Patch contributor Michelle Petroccio.

Shocked, Petroccio opened her front door to see several police cruisers in her front yard. She shares her experience in this column.

The suspect, who police identified as Robert Graham, 31, of New Haven, was taken into custody and hit with several charges. Here’s the police report.

HAMDEN – A group of teenagers -- seven to be exact -- were arrested this week after brawling, police said.

One 18-year-old was transported to the hospital as a result of injuries he sustained in the fight, police said. The teen was also charged with breach of peace.

Meanwhile, police took into custody six other teens who were allegedly involved in the fight. They were all arrested.

STRATFORD – A Stratford man wanted on drug charges led police on a car chase and smashed into two cars before he was apprehended, according to police.

State Police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance said David D. Williams, 31, of 159 Columbus Ave., was charged by state police with interfering with a search warrant, interfering with police, criminal attempt to commit assault on a police officer, two counts of risk of injury to a minor and two counts of possession of freebase cocaine with intent to sell. Stratford police also filed additional charges of engaging police in pursuit and reckless driving.
