[UPDATED] Coastal Flooding, Freeze Warning for East Haven

Continued rain creates minor flooding concerns; dropping temperatures lead to freeze warning for overnight tonight and tomorrow morning.

The National Weather Service has extended it's coastal flood advisory for East Haven, and much of the Connecticut shoreline.

The weather service is expecting "minor coastal flooding" Friday morning into Friday afternoon. Tidal departures are expected to be 3 to 6 inches above astronomical tides.

In addition, the service has also issued a freeze warning for East Haven for overnight tonight into tomorrow morning. The warning is in effect from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday.

"Freezing temperatures will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation if no measures are taken to protect them," the meterologists reported.

This morning's expected continued rainfall has led to the National Weather Service issuing a coastal flood advisory for East Haven's shoreline.

The advisory will remain in effect from 9 a.m. this morning until 1 p.m. this afternoon.

Tidal departures are expected to be about 6 inches to 1 foot, causing minor coastal flooding, the weather service meteorologists reported in their advisory.

"A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore," the meterologists reported.

The rain is expected to continue through into tonight, which upwards of more than an half of an inch possible.
