Archbishop Emeritus to Visit East Haven Church

The Most Rev. Daniel A. Cronin, archbishop emeritus of Hartford, will be presiding and preaching at Our Lady of Pompeii Church on Dec. 6.

The Most Rev. Daniel A. Cronin, archbishop emeritus of Hartford, is coming to East Haven on Thursday, Dec. 6 to preside and preach during an "Advent Evening of Reflection" with a focus on the "Year of Faith."

The presentation begins at 7 p.m. and takes place at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 355 Foxon Road, in East Haven. 

The reflection will be offered in the context of a Holy Hour, to also include prayers, readings from Scripture, and the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

 “This is real blessing for the parishes in this area, and indeed all our community, to learn from a great Church leader and scholar,” said the Rev. John L. Lavorgna, pastor of Our Lady of Pompeii. “Archbishop Cronin has a wealth of wisdom and pastoral experience, and I know his reflections will be beneficial and enriching for all people of faith during this special year of grace.  I am excited for everyone to share in this experience.”

The event is open to the public, and is being presented in conjunction with Catholic parishes in the surrounding area.

The Year of Faith, proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI as an opportunity to grow in our relationship with God, officially began on Oct. 11, and will conclude on Nov. 24, 2013, which is the Solemnity of Christ the King. 

It marks the 50th Anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and the 20th Anniversary of the Promulgation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
