When Firefighters Go to Work

As we approach the end of 2013 I have already begun to look at this blog and what information I want to provide to you in 2014.

Next month I am looking to provide a year in review of the East Haven Fire Department. In January I will present the 2013 call volume.

Last month we discussed fire prevention which brings me to my next topic of information. Fire Marshal Anthony Moscato after 35 years serving the citizens of East Haven as a career firefighter will be retiring from the department December 27, 2013.

For those of you that have children or have attended school in East Haven there is no doubt Marshal Moscato has taught you important lessons in fire prevention. He has been a positive asset and friend to the East Haven community. There will be a retirement party on December 30th. Please contact the Kathy Dennis Fire Department secretary at (203) 468-3221 for tickets. I wish Tony a happy, enjoyable and relaxing retirement.

This month’s blog I chose to bring the writings from a friend in Seattle WA . Ann Galiano is the wife of Capt Mike Galiano. Ann regularly writes for the fire service on a national level for Fire Engineering magazine. Mike and Ann lecture together on building and maintaining a strong marriage across the country. Ann has a great perspective of a firefighter’s life and this article may provide you a new insight of the East Haven firefighters
