East Haven Readers' Choice: Yankee Discount Liquor

More than for your favorite local wine and spirits shop in this week’s East Haven Readers' Choice poll. And the final results are in: is your favorite package store!

Yankee Discount finished with 25 percent of the vote, was right behind with 18 percent and finished in third with 15 percent.

And and also had strong showings, tallying 14 and 13 percent of the votes respectively.

'Very Kind and Helpful'

When asked what sets their favorite shot apart, East Haven Patch reader (and blogger!) had this to say of Yankee Discount:

"The folks at Yankee are so very kind and helpful and have ordered things for me, without even taking any money up front!! Something you don't always see in this day and in this age. I don't buy alcohol very often but I have gone there mostly and the first time they ordered something for me, a couple of months had passed in between the time I asked about a wine (Twisted a delicious pinot grigio btw) and when I came back in the owner went in the back and pulled out a box of it and asked how many I wanted!! I was so pleasantly surprised that I vowed that even if I move out of East Haven I will always make it my business to shop there!"

And seconded that sentiment:

"I totally agree with you Becki. They always greet you as soon as you walk in, and are always available to help you if needed."
