East Haven Unemployment Sits at 8.3 Percent

After a year of ups and downs, East Haven's unemployment rate has shifted back up slightly after reaching its lowest level of the year earlier this fall.

According to the latest figures released by the Connecticut Department of Labor, East Haven's unemployment in October sat at 8.3 percent.

In September, the town's unemployment rate was at 8.1. And it was 8.9 percent for the month of August.

Additionally, the department's figures also showed the labor force in East Haven rose slightly from 14,784 in September to 14,852 in October.

The town's highest reported unemployment rate so far this year was in January, when 9.2 percent of the town reported they were out of work.

State, National Unemployment Rate

In Connecticut, the pool of jobless people last month sat at 7.5 percent overall. Nationally, the United State's unemployment rate is 7.0 percent.
