East Haven Unemployment Drops to 7.5 Percent

The town's local unemployment rate now sits at its lowest level of the year.

After a year of ups and downs, East Haven's unemployment rate fallen it the lowest level of the year.

According to the latest figures released by the Connecticut Department of Labor, East Haven's unemployment in November sat at 7.5 percent.

It is the first time this year the figure has been below 8 percent. 

In October, the town's unemployment rate was at 8.3. And it was at 8.1 percent in September.

Additionally, the department's figures also showed the labor force in East Haven ticked up slightly from 14,852 in October to 14,895 in November.

The town's highest reported unemployment rate so far this year was in January, when 9.2 percent of East Haven residents reported they were out of work

State, National Unemployment Rate

In Connecticut, the pool of jobless people last month sat at 6.9 percent overall. Nationally, the United State's unemployment rate is 6.6 percent.
