East Haven Company's Product Means Crime-Fighting iPads

Nexgen Public Safety Solutions has developed software that makes iPads much useful for police officers.

iPads might soon join handcuffs and a pistol as part of a police officer's wardrobe, thanks to new software produced by an East Haven company.

The Hartford Courant reports that Nexgen Public Safety Solutions, which is based out of East Haven, has developed new software for iPads that makes them much more useful for police officers in the field. Several police departments have pilot programs where cops use the iPads in the field, to great success.

Nexgen hopes to have all the police departments it serves using its software on iPads. If it is successful, it will hit most of Connecticut, as the company serves 114 of Connecticut's 169 police departments, according to the Courant.
