What's In A Name? Sin Sisters To Perform Again at Fall Festival.

They are an East Haven band through and through: not only have they performed in town for years, many of them were raised in town and live there now. 

The Sin Sisters Band is a band, but not "sinful" and not composed of "sisters," either!  The three women who formed the band 25 years ago, Jan Ingarra, Kathy Kessler and Patti Ann Rahl, have known each since the days of albums, 8-tracks and cassettes.

Patch spoke with Jan Ingarra about how they all met, what they love to play and what makes East Haven special to them. 

"Kathy and I lived in the same neighborhood and knew each other in kindergarten," said Ingarra. "I met Patti Ann around 1984 in vocal school."

Ingarra said each had experienced the "only-girl" singing thing, and found that there's more joy in doing harmonies. In short, "the whole is better than the parts."

Years ago they were the Guardian Angels and later, The Spectacles. 

"It's all about the music," said Ingarra, who like the rest of the members of the band has a "real job" during the day, is married and a parent. "People in the audience tell us it looks like we are having fun and we are." 

Members today include Ingarra (vocals), Patti Ann Rahl (vocals), Kessler (vocals), Rick Jordan (guitar), Don Rahl (bass, keyboard, guitar and vocals) and Bobby Torello (drums).

"We add our own personalities to the band and music to keep it interesting and infectiously fun," she added. 

They play a wide range of music said Ingarra, "from country to swing to Lady Gaga - it all works."

They are all looking forward to another year performing at the East Haven Fall Festival, taking place this year from Sept. 6-8. 

"We are really happy to be in East Haven again," said Ingarra. "We are treated so well."
