1. SHOPPING AND WINE TASTING EVENT IN DOWNTOWN NEW HAVEN

Where/When: Register at the Shubert Theater, 247 College St., New Haven. The event takes place from 4 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4.

Why Go: More than 20 shops and boutiques will participate in the third-annual “Flights of Fancy,” downtown New Haven’s popular wine tasting and shopping. The event, sponsored by The Wine Thief and the Shubert Theater and presented by the Broadway and Chapel Merchants Associations, features in-store wine tastings, special discounts and extraordinary giveaways.

Pricing: A registration fee of $10 includes an exclusive Flights of Fancy wine glass, map of participating shops, entry into the grand prize drawing, free parking (at The York Street Garage, 150 York St.), trolley rides (to shuttle participants between the shopping districts throughout the evening), coffee and dessert. During the event, participants will be able to sample fine wines courtesy of The Wine Thief, 181 Crown St., and receive 25 percent off their favorite item at participating stores in the Broadway and Chapel shopping districts. 2. AEDAN BLOOMQUIST SCHOLARSHIP ANNUAL 'SUPER BOWL' FUNDRAISER

Where/When: AMF Circle Lanes Bowling Center, 525 Main St., East Haven, from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5.

Why Go: The event is in memory of Branford High graduate and volunteer firefighter Aedan Bloomquist. Last year six graduating seniors of Branford High School were presented with scholarships in Aedan’s name; funds raised this year will help more local students. 3. SATURDAY FAMILY WORKSHOP AT NEW HAVEN MUSEUM

Where/When: New Haven Museum, 114 Whitney Ave., New Haven, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5.

Why Go: To complement the opening of the Yale-China Association Exhibit, the museum will be offering arts and crafts activities and workshops that celebrate Chinese culture in New Haven. The event is designed for children ages 4 and up, and their parents. Refreshments will be served.

4. ANNUAL SOUP’ER BOWL SUPPER

5. RUN FOR REFUGEES

Why Go: Get outdoors, run or walk and support a great cause. The event supports IRIS—Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services, whose mission is to help refugees and other displaced people establish new lives, regain hope, and contribute to the vitality of Connecticut’s communities.
