Call for Nominations for the 2012 Arts Awards

The 2012 Arts Awards will recognize those who go “Against the Grain,” taking creative risks and standing out from the crowd.  In a world where conformity breeds false security and cookie-cutter brands shape our social landscape, there are talented denizens, working alone or collectively, who challenge the norms, build from the ground up and push the boundaries.  We praise those who have the courage to question “business as usual” and admire endeavors that elicit change and spark inspired conversations.

We welcome your nominations of individuals and organizations in the arts community who have been successful in contributing exceptional ideas and remarkable projects that have made Greater New Haven a better place to live.

Nominees should include visual, performing and literary artists, directors, educators, administrators, and donors who reside or work and organizations that are located in Greater New Haven.

There is no limit to how many nominations one person can submit – we encourage multiple submissions.  You may pick up a form at the Arts Council, email your nomination(s) to info@newhavenarts.org, or fill out the form online at newhavenarts.org. Please limit your “reason for endorsement” to 500 words or less.

Thank you – The Arts Council relies on your input in selecting noteworthy nominees that make the Arts Awards meaningful and relevant each year.

The award winners will be honored at our annual Arts Awards Luncheon at the New Haven Lawn Club on Friday, December 7, 2012 beginning at 11:45 a.m.

For more information about the Arts Awards, call The Arts Council of Greater New Haven at (203) 772-2788.

The Arts Council of Greater New Haven, publisher of The Arts Paper, is a regional nonprofit arts agency that provides leadership to and advocates for member artists and arts organizations and connects them to one another, to audiences, and to the Greater New Haven community.
