Veterans Day: East Haven Honors Those Who Served This Monday

Two East Haven veterans recently discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps — Bill Paulson and Frank Atwater — will also be recognized during the town's annual ceremony on the green this year.

East Haven will pause, reflect and take time to honor the service of the town's entire veteran community this Monday, Nov. 11.

And two recently retired local service members will also be individually recognized for their contributions during the town's annual Veterans Day ceremonies this year.

This year’s Veterans Day ceremonies, organized annually by the the East Haven Veterans Council, will take place at the War Memorial on the East Haven Town Green beginning at 11 a.m.

Local veterans, as well as various town and state officials, will be leaving the American Legion Post 89 on Thompson Avenue starting at 10:45 a.m. to march down Main Street to the town green to render honors.

Town Honors Two

At that time, the veterans council will recognize two East Haven residents recently discharged from the United States Marine Corps: Bill Paulson and Frank “Bugle Boy” Atwater. 

All Vets, Public Invited

All veterans are invited to attend the service and take part in the walk to the town green. Of course, the public is encouraged to attend. 

Following the ceremony, all attendees are invited back to the American Legion Post 89 Hall on Thompson Avenue for coffee and pastries. 

Town Offices Closed, Trash Not Affected

All East Haven town offices will be closed on Monday, Nov, 11 in observance of Veterans’ Day.  

However the town’s trash and recycling pick-up will not be affected by the holiday, and will be collected on the town's regular collection schedule.
