Runner Shows His East Haven Fire Support at Boston Marathon

East Haven native John Guilfoil — whose father and brother both serve in the EHFD — created a custom shirt to wear during his run of the Boston marathon Monday, which honors East Haven and Boston firefighters.

East Haven native John Guilfoil is showing his support for the both the East Haven and Boston fire departments during his run Monday in the Boston Marathon.

Guilfoil — the son of veteran EHFD firefighter John Guilfoil, and the brother of one of the department's newest members Chris Guilfoil — lives in the Boston area, where he run his own public relations firm.

On Sunday, Guilfoil shared via Twitter the special shirt he created to wear during Monday's 26.2 mile run.

The shirt, which features writing and images on both the front and back, specifically honors both the East Haven and Boston fire departments, as well as firefighters in general.

The back of the shirt reads: "26.2 miles for firefighters because they'd run there and back for you."
