Metro-North Railroad says its New Haven Line is operating at reduced speeds Thursday, according to a Twitter post:
Due to high temps/the potential impact on our catenary system, New Haven trains are operating @ reduced speeds which may result in delays.
A catenary system is a system of overhead wires that provide electricity to locomotives.
Heat Continues
A National Weather Service remains in effect until 7 p.m. for East Haven and all of southern Connecticut. And poor air quality shuffled in by the high heat and humidity is expected to continue into Friday.
The NWS also recommended the people know the signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
Connecticut Public Safety also recommended that people call elderly friends and neighbors to check to see that they are OK.
