Major Delays Expected On I-95 South In New Haven Next Weekend

The expected delays are a result of the $2 billion project to replace the Pearl Harbor Memorial "Q" Bridge.

Next weekend is probably a good time to avoid driving through New Haven on I-95.

Traffic will be delayed from July 26-29 on I-95 southbound from Exit 50 to Exit 46 and at the I-91 southbound connection to I-95 southbound because of construction on the Pearl Harbor Memorial “Q” Bridge, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The highway will narrow from two lanes to one in some areas and some highway ramps will be closed, according to the DOT.

The work will allow the state to begin to demolish the old Q Bridge. The new Q Bridge is expected to open to traffic in 2016.
