Let’s Celebrate Fall

Take your pick and there’s bound to be one aspect of autumn that gets you excited -- this is New England after all!

Temperatures have dipped into the 50s, sweaters are being pulled from storage bins and kids and adults are getting amped for apple picking, Halloween and, not too far off, the Thanksgiving feast. That’s right. Fall is here.

Sure, it’s not all fun and games after the colorful leaves fall on your lawn and you have to rake them up. (But, even that can be fun for the kids who get to jump in the piles!)

Fall is a time to celebrate nature’s beauty and its bounty. Like the farmer’s harvest, activities abound at this time of year. Here’s a sampling of a few nearby ones coming up:

• The Connecticut Renaissance Faire on Saturday, Sept. 24-25.
• Connecticut Hunting and Fishing Appreciation Day on Saturday, Sept. 24.
• Asylum Hill Congregational Church's "Harvest on the Hill" on Saturday, Oct. 1.
• "Pumpkin Patch" at the Shore Line Trolley Museum on Saturday, Oct. 15.
• It’s Apple and Pumpkin Picking at Bishop’s Orchards in Guilford.
