Kids Hoping to Be On 'So You Think You Can Dance?'

East Haven resident choreographs dance submission.

They don't just think they can dance -- they work hard at it and want to prove it.

That's what students in East Haven resident Chrissy Celentano's dance class did July 30 when they celebrated National Dance Day 2011 by creating a video that they submitted to Fox's hit TV show "So You Think You Can Dance?"

Celentano is the owner of Legacy School of Dance in North Haven, which is in its second year of operation. She and instructor Leah Guarnieri are both choreographers. They put together a fun day of dance activities for the students at the school to celebrate National Dance Day 2011, which was created to promote health and self-esteem through dance.

As for their video submission to "So You Think You Can Dance?," judges will pick finalists from a national pool of submissions to be aired on the show and compete for prizes and a chance to appear on TV.

Legacy School of Dance is located at 53 Quinnipiac Ave., No. B., in North Haven.
