East Haven Merit Award Winners Honored for Community Service
This year's honorees — Amy Derbacher, Janet & Peter Cianelli and Janice & Tony Romano — shared their night in the spotlight with family, friends and neighbors during a special awards dinner Thursday evening.
The importance of community and family were in focus as the 2013 Annual Merit Awards were presented to this year's five honorees during a special dinner Thursday night at the Foxon Country House.
The award is handed out annually to recognize and honor the efforts of East Haven residents active within the town as volunteers and public servants.

The recognition dinner is held on the eve of the Fall Festival each year, and serves as a centerpiece to kick off the annual town-wide celebration.
All five merit award winners were joined by family and friends, as well as town and state leaders, during Thursday night's ceremony, as each recipient was recognized for their community service contributions.
