Shoreline Boy, Family Needs Heroes After Fire

Neighbors and friends are hoping to help the Clinton family regain items that were lost, including a little boy's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collection.

A 5-year-old Clinton boy and his family are in need of some superhero turtle power.

The family lost all their belongings Thursday in a fire at a Killingworth Turnpike trailer park.

That includes the boy's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle collection and he misses them very much, Sarah Newman told Clinton Patch via Facebook.

"If anyone has any they would consider giving to him it would make him very happy," she said. "He lost everything in that fire. This would be a little he could get back."

Newman's granddaughter, Sam Monroe, is a neighbor of the family and organized a collection effort. She said they need the following items:

  • A microwave
  • Dishes
  • Silverware
  • Pots and pans
  • Mixing bowls
  • Utensils
  • Towels
  • Blankets (Queen)/pillows
  • Hairdresser chair
  • Hairdryer
  • Flat iron
  • Women's clothes: large-XL shirts, size 15 pants, size eight shoes

Monroe said items may be brought to one of the following locations:

  • Shoreline Riders RC Clubhouse, 6 John St. Ext., Clinton (Call Steve at 860-304-9758 before dropping items off)
  •  Monroe's house at 72 Evergreen Park, Clinton (pick-ups can be arranged if needed)

According to an article on WFSB, monetary donations can be given at Liberty Bank, 90 Main St., Old Saybrook.

Walk-in donations made out to the Neely/Miner family can be accepted at any Liberty Bank in Connecticut, WFSB reported.
