$1 Million Lotto Ticket Sold in East Haven

And a New Haven man is the lucky winner.

The CT Lottery announced today that William Pearson of New Haven is the $1,000,000 Powerball® prize winner for the Dec. 11 drawing.  

As CT’s newest Powerball “Match 5” prize winner, Pearson increased the total number of lucky wins to 21 since the new Powerball game began on Jan. 15, 2012—16 worth $1,000,000, plus another five that were Power Played® for the game’s $2,000,000 prize.

The winning Powerball numbers drawn on Dec. 11 were 1 - 10 - 13 - 18 - 19; the Powerball number was 27. In total, 10,104 winning Powerball tickets were sold statewide for that date, with prizes ranging from $4 to $1,000,000.

Pearson, who chose his own numbers to play, matched the first 5 numbers drawn for the game’s $1,000,000 prize.  Pearson claimed his prize at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill and received a check for $683,000 (value after taxes).

A lottery retailer since October 2013, ShopRite of East Haven, located at 745 Foxon Road, will receive a $2,500 bonus check from the CT Lottery for selling Pearson his winning ticket.

The overall odds of winning a Powerball prize are 1 in 31.8 based on a $2 play.  The odds of winning a Powerball “Match 5” prize are 1 in 5,153,633. Odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 175,223,510 million.
