Wilbur Cross High School Comes in First Place at Culinary Competition
The Connecticut Restaurant Association and its charitable foundation, The Connecticut Hospitality and Education Foundation, sponsored The Connecticut ProStart Invitational on Wednesday, March 12th at Gateway Community College at the downtown campus in New Haven, Connecticut.
Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven came in first place in the Culinary Competition, which judged the schools in different categories ranging from knife skills to the production of a three course meal to clean-up. The students competed for $100,000 in scholarship money to post-secondary culinary institutions.
ProStart is currently working for approximately 90,000 student participants in more than 1,700 schools, across 47 states. The Connecticut Restaurant Association speaks for nearly 600 hospitality professionals who serve their guests in over 1,000 locations throughout Connecticut.

From 2011 to 2021, the number of jobs in the restaurant and foodservice industry are projected to increase by 3.1 million. That includes 11 % growth in chefs and head cooks and 8% growth in management positions.
